Competitive R & D project of the Community of Extremadura. Carried out thanks to the collaboration of Graphenano Smart Materials with Intromac and NanoEx.
Search for innovative additives, such as graphene and its derivatives, which allow to obtain bituminous mixtures and more sustainable pavements.
It is of great interest to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of bituminous materials after adding the additive (for example, stiffness, resistance, cracking behavior, and durability).
In the construction industry, asphalt mixtures and concrete are the most commonly used materials, so that the introduction of any element that reduces cost, both economic and environmental, carries great social benefits. The integration of more effective materials and the development of new manufacturing processes and applications, will enable optimization of construction processes and improvement of current performance of the executed works. In addition, it means an increase in recycling rates, with the consequent environmental benefit.
