One GraphenBar truck equals six steel trucks.

At 27 % of steel's weight, each 20 t truck carries up to four times more metres of reinforcement. Fewer shipments, less crane time, less handling labour and spark-free cutting.

Standards & assessment

Assessed to EAD 260023-00-0301.

EAD 260023-00-0301

European Assessment Document applicable to GFRP bars for concrete reinforcement.

Factory production control

Manufactured under FPC, with batch control on our pultrusion line in Yecla.

CE marking in progress

The European Technical Assessment (ETA) is being processed under Regulation (EU) 305/2011. Until it is issued, performances are not declared under that Regulation.

Structural design

Design is the responsibility of the project engineer, applying the codes and guidelines in force for GFRP bars.

AENORAENORAENORGraphenano Smart Materials holds management system certifications (ISO 9001 · 14001 · 45001). These do not certify the product.

74–80 MJ versus 315–371 MJ per part.

Life-cycle assessment (LCA) of pultruded parts shows 74–80 MJ of embodied energy versus 315–371 MJ for the equivalent steel part: no blasting, no painting and no maintenance in the use phase. These are sector-level data on pultruded profiles, not a product-specific study. And thanks to graphene's cohesion the material can be recovered: ground, micronised and reused.

Engineering questions
Can I replace steel 1:1?

In designs governed by ultimate limit state (ULS) you can substitute directly with high-modulus GraphenBar. If serviceability governs, redesign to GFRP specifications is recommended — often optimising section and consumption.

Does it work in seismic zones?

Seismic behaviour is not an assessed characteristic of the product, so its use in seismic zones must be justified by the project engineer. Bridges and structures with GFRP reinforcement exist in seismic regions, but that experience refers to GFRP bars in general.

How do you cut it on site?

Fine-blade saw, grinder or diamond disc. No end sealing required. A dust mask is recommended.

What about fire?

The declared glass transition temperature of the bar is 109.1 °C and the declared maximum service temperature ranges from 70.5 to 86.9 °C depending on diameter. Reaction to fire is not an assessed characteristic.

And low temperatures?

Behaviour at sub-zero temperatures is not among the assessed characteristics. Ask us and we will review it with our technical department.

Is it more expensive than steel?

Bar pricing is competitive and far below stainless steel. Counting transport (×6), handling, corrosion inhibitors, cover concrete and maintenance, total project cost goes down.
